Carter works at a gym and is a kickboxing instructor. He gives Alex private lessons. Carter is very good for Alex. He is able to calm and settle her nerves. Carter is instantly attracted to Alex. After spending time with Carter, Alex starts to have feelings for him. Alex didn't think that love & a relationship with someone would happen for her again. Carter is very patient and understanding. He stays by Alex's side even when her ex, Todd comes back into the picture.

The chemistry between Alex and Carter is instant and hot. I love that Carter and Alex are there for each other. Together they make each other stronger / better. Carter is so supportive of Alex. When Carter needed Alex she was there for him. The tenderness and genuine affection that Carter has for Alex is so endearing. Everyone needs a 'Carter' in their life.

This is the first book that I have read by Betty Shreffler. I appreciate all the thought that the author put into making this an incredible book. I highly recommend Unbreak This Heart.

A first time read for me by Betty Shreffer and I'm still debating if I would go back for more? I would probably read an arc for her so I could give constructive criticism if written like this one but I don't think I would purchase another book.

Shreffer's writing style needs a little work. Her descriptives and attention to detail is boring and VERY repetitive and most scenarios lacked believability. The storyline itself was ok and had potential to be something really good but again the writing let it down.
Alex's "incident/s" didn't have the desired effect or seriousness I think the author was going for? When you add this sort of subject matter into your story and especially when the event IS a part of the story and not just something in passing, you need to do it right with the respect it deserves, including correct ways this would have been dealt with?

The characters were ok... Alex (h) was too weak minded for a female lead I could connect with. So this put me off her a little but she did somewhat redeemed herself later in the book, so that was a positive. Carter (H) was my favorite character and probably when i think about it, saved the story for me.
Again though the story timelines weren't very accurate so, yeah?

This review sounds terrible! The story was really ok, its just the execution was bad! Sorry I'm a details girl and like to get some sort of emotional connection with the story and characters I'm reading which I didn't. I don't want to put others off reading this because most will probably find it quite a good book.

The story Unbreak This Heart by Betty Shreffler is a contemporary romance book. I found myself lost in the pages of this story and not wanting to put it down. It is a story of courage, strength, determination, and love. It is a book that touched both my heart and soul. I loved reading about the characters of Alex DeMarco and Carter Maxwell. Alex is a beautiful, amazing woman who at times feels pain/loneliness after what she has been through. While she has times of doubt and panic she also shows amazing strength and spirit. Alex is a character that I had no problem warming up to and wanting her to find happiness in her life. She is someone that you want to succeed in all she does. She is given the gift of kick-boxing lessons. What she didn’t expect was the oh so handsome and charming trainer that she meets. Carter Maxwell is a man that is physically fit and has a plan for what he wants to do in the future. Those plans now include a woman that has caught his eye and his heart. Both Carter and Alex are very attracted to each other. As they spend time together you can tell that there is chemistry. He is patient and knows he needs to take things slow. Desire and passion are what they feel when together. What does the future hold for Carter and Alex? Carter makes Alex feel safe and protected. Complications arise when Alex’s ex-fiancé show back up in her life. Who will Alex choose? Will Carter and Alex get an HEA? Read this story to find out. I love how Carter is so supportive of Alex. There are other characters that are introduced in the story and I enjoyed reading of the part that they play and also how they interact with Carter and Alex. This book has times when scenes are heartbreaking however there are also the heartwarming scenes that will have you smiling. This is a well-written story that you don’t want to miss out on. I highly recommend reading it.
